Government Cave, Alongthang, 10th April, 1872.
My Lord,
I greatly regret that I am unable to leave the Colony without adverting to Mr. Moorson's apparent incompetency to discharge the duties of his very responsible Office.
It would be meepory to frame charges for which, owing to his early departure, he had not time.
In plain English, I felt that his case was being hushed down and he was being allowed to extricate himself from an untenable position.

It is worthy of remark that the General was averse to bringing Mr. Moorson's case before the Council.
I should refer the matter to Sir A. Kennedy. Sir F. Macbride should not have read the confidential despatch of the Council, especially as his subsequent behaviour makes it questionable whether his re-employment in another Colony would be suitable.
But if an impartial outsider might be trusted to report upon the matter, there is no hope that Mr. Moorsom will escape being really "whitewashed".
I agree with me Herbert and K June 27.
